To get familiar with Houdini, I created a base temple inspired by the “Tempietto di San Pietro in Montorio” in Italy. By tweaking a list of parameters you can create many different results.
As with anything, it’s best to divide the task into subtasks: ground stairs first, then pillars and the base floor, the ring of poles, a second base, and the dome with ornaments. It’s important to often try to “break” the model by adjusting parameters across combined values.
I recycled an Attribute VOP across several parts, letting the user create their own custom shape by placing vertices in the spline ramp, with fit nodes matching the values to the shape’s position.
