
Niagara has a lot to offer a Technical Artist, especially at an advanced level such as fluid simulations: Simulation Stages make things easier. Having tested Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (a Lagrangian approach) within Unreal Engine, a lot of knowledge and appreciation grew for people active in the field.
The biggest takeaway: especially in fluid simulation, there is no “one fits all” solution. Every solution must be adapted to the user’s needs: define the needs first, then decide which approach best fits the goal. The simulation field in games is still young and already has so much to offer.
