Research on Fluid Simulation

Niagara has a lot to offer for a Technical Artist, especially on a more advanced level such as fluid simulations. Simulation Stages within Niagara surely help make things easier. Having tested out Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, a Lagrangian approach, within Unreal Engine, a lot of knowledge and appreciation grew for people active in the field.
The biggest takeaway for me is that, especially in the fluid simulation field, there is no “one fits all” solution. Every solution needs to be adapted to the needs of the user. The user should first define their needs and from there a decision can be made on which approach would best fit their goal.
The simulation field in video games is still young and already has so much to offer.
